Mr. Alvarez is the founder of the firm. He graduated from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in 1986 where he earned an academic achievement award scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin.In 1991, Mr. Alvarez graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin with a major in Economics and a minor in Spanish.Mr. Alvarez received his law degree from South Texas College of Law in December 1994.While at South Texas College of Law, he was an active member of the Board of Advocates and received various honors and awards.The honors and awards earned included:“Best Brief” honors in the Leroy Jeffers Moot Court Competition (1993); “Best Team” honors in the Garland R. Walker Mock Trial Competition (1994); and Second Place Team honors in the National Invitational Tournament of Champions Mock Trial Team Competition (1994).
Mr. Alvarez was admitted to practice in Texas on May 5, 1995 after passing the February 1995 bar examination.Mr. Alvarez and his firm have earned the highest rating available (“AV”) by Martindale-Hubbell for ethical and professional achievement. The ranking is an honor as is voted on by attorneys and judges that have had cases or trials with Mr. Alvarez and his firm. Mr. Alvarez has tried numerous cases throughout the State of Texas, including Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Jefferson, Polk, Bexar, Travis, and Montgomery counties.These cases range from simple auto and family litigation matters to complex commercial, divorce, family, employment, and business litigation cases.Mr. Alvarez also represents clients in front of state and federal administrative agencies and boards such as the Department of Labor (“DOL”), Texas Workforce Commission (“TWC”), U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”), and Health & Human Services Commission (“HHSC”).
Over the years, Mr. Alvarez has assisted business clients and employers by negotiating and litigating various types of employment and business matters.In addition to the foregoing, Mr. Alvarez counsels business owners and management in their proactive compliance efforts and attempts to effectively manage their liability risks associated with the ever changing labor, employment, and immigration laws.
Mr. Alvarez is licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas and admitted to practice in all Texas Courts.He has participated in or is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Young Lawyers Association, Texas Young Lawyers Association, Mexican-American Bar Association of Houston, and Hispanic Bar Association.Mr. Alvarez is also a current or past Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation and Houston Young Lawyers Foundation.He served as Chairman (2002 and 2003) and Co‑Chair (2001) of the Houston Young Lawyers Association’s Special Olympics Auction and continues to help and consult with various charitable organizations and groups in the Houston area.Mr. Alvarez is a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, chapter 3910.
Mr. Alvarez is a native Houstonian.He and his immediate family reside in Houston.Mr. Alvarez has also lived and studied abroad in Mexico City, Mexico and Salamanca, Spain.Mr. Alvarez reads, writes, and speaks Spanish fluently and often communicates with clients in their own native language, Spanish.
